Meet the band
Steve Littlewood
Vocals - Acoustic Guitar - Bass Guitar - Ukulele - Harmonica - Kazoo
Steve is best known in the business for his 20 years spent as ‘The Great Pretender’ Freddie Mercury tribute artist – although his musical journey has seen him take on the role of vocalist, comedian, bass player, guitarist, impressionist and more recently singer/songwriter and poet!
A keen golfer and with a taste for real Ale, Steve is also a lover of dogs and can be seen most days out in the local fields with his two English Setters. He’s also a proud Nottingham Forest FC fan.
During the early part of his 50-year musical career Steve also worked in the building trade, retail menswear and even had a spell with film giants Kodak.
Guilty Pleasure – McDonalds Egg McMuffin
Pet Hate – Film actors pretending to drink from obviously empty cups
Favourite Artist – The Beatles
Interesting fact – Steve’s pride and joy is a classic Mk1 Mini which has been converted to a soft top.
Mick Whittemore
Vocals - Acoustic guitar - Ukulele - Mandolin -Harmonica
Mick thanks his mum and elder sisters for his musical ability and taste. His mum was a talented pianist and singer, and as a young boy his sisters flooded the house with the music of The Beatles, The Bee Gees and the Beach Boys.
With a keen ear for harmony Mick has been playing guitar and singing across a variety of genres including Rock, Pop and Country all of his adult life – while also running his own music and PA business. He’s a very busy man and seldom rests!
Career highlights include a tour of Norway, a week spent as a Scandinavian pop star and support slots with none other than Paul Carrack.
Guilty Pleasure – ABBA
Pet Hate –Melon
Favourite Artist – The Eagles
Interesting Fact – Once attended a music biz party in LA and met Steve Lukather (Toto), Albert Lee and Vince Gill all in one evening!
Jill Renshaw
Vocals - Keyboards - Acoustic Guitar - Percussion
Jill is our ‘late bloomer’ and although she started playing the piano as a small girl she only became a professional musician in recent years. Unusually for a child, she wasn’t taught to read music and learned to play completely by ear – which she still does!
By her early twenties Jill was playing regularly for church concerts but her ambitions took her away from music as she developed her own high-end interior design business, which she still runs today.
Jill is very much a ‘can do’ type of person and in recent years has found her voice and also taught herself to play the guitar. She loves Motown music and is also partial to a bit of Northern Soul!
Guilty Pleasure - Kev
Pet Hate – Being cold
Favourite Artist – Shirley Bassey
Interesting fact – During a date with a radio DJ she sat in on an interview and got to meet Brian May!
Kev Maltby
Bass Guitar - Acoustic Guitar - Percussion
Kev has forged a professional career spanning over 40 years and has become the go-to bass player in the tribute world, often found touring with international Madonna, Blues Bros and Amy Winehouse tribute shows.
When at home Kev is in great demand teaching bass and guitar to a variety of lucky students.
Fortunately for us he’s always up for a challenge, and has recently added new strings to his bow by adopting the mantle of show percussionist and technical consultant (whatever that is?)
Guilty Pleasure – Jill
Pet Hate – Steve’s violin bass
Favourite Artist – Level 42
Interesting Fact – Kev is a keen motorsport fan and every year heads off in his classic Jaguar to attend the Le Mans 24-hour race in France.
